Your child’s time in Hedgehogs is centred round the development of their imagination and continuing to increase independence and responsibility.
Our spacious nursery room is looking much more like a reception year class and our aim is to make the transition between nursery and school as seamless as possible.
In Hedgehogs our home corner becomes alive with imagination; role playing as Police or Fire people or maybe Doctors and Nurses - they have great fun at the same time as improving their communication and social skills.
As in Butterflies, each child in the Hedgehogs room has their own personal box to store their own items from home or craft they have made. We also introduce a helper system in Hedgehogs. Your child will be set a small task such as watering the plants, feeding our pet “Tiny Tim” the turtle or helping to tidy the book corner and we have found this helps them to feel very much part of their small community and take pride in their surroundings.
With an abundance of different set activities to take part and free weekly sessions of Dance, there is never a dull (and rarely quiet!) moment in the hedgehog’s room!
And don’t forget the garden!
In our own garden area there are a range of outside toys for your child to enjoy. We also start to introduce your child to our veggie patch and the children delight in sowing seeds and watching their produce grow. It’s an exciting time when their vegetables appear on Carol the Cook’s menu!
If Hedgehogs sounds like a place your child would enjoy book a visit to meet the friendly team and find out more about our nursery.
